Great Eats and Shopping in the 9th and 9th

If you are looking for a new home in the 9th and 9th area of Salt Lake City. There are many great amenities associated with this locale. In this two-part post, explore everything that this great neighborhood has to offer.

Food and Drink

9th and 9th has truly become one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in Salt Lake City. And the area is still growing. It has always featured places to grab a bite or get coffee. Area stalwarts such as Coffee Garden and Mazza have catered to SLC’s better tastes for decades. The last few years have seen a bevy of new hip places to grab a bite, including the delectable Tulie Bakery, the first bar in the neighborhood, East Liberty Tap House, and Pago, a great place for brunch and fine dining. Here is a list of places to eat or drink in the area:

  • East Liberty Tap House: The only place to grab a beer on 9th and 9th. This hip space also features a full menu. Don’t forget the appetizers; the queso dip is especially wonderful.
  • Pago: Fine dining with unique spins on classic dishes.
  • Tulie Bakery: A french bakery that makes the best cakes, croissants, and other pastries in town. It’s also a great place to have a cup of coffee.
  • Thai Garden and Noodle House: Authentic thai food for people on a budget, but there is nothing cheap about their offerings.
  • Mazza: A Salt Lake City mainstay featuring some of the best middle eastern food in the valley.
  • Coffee Garden: Great coffee. This cafe has been around Salt Lake City forever, and for good reason.
  • 9th South Delicatessen: Famous for its reuban sandwiches, this deli recently started serving brunch.
  • Tropical Dreams Hawaiian Ice Cream: Cool off with Hawaiian style shaved ice on those hot summer days.
  • Dolcetti Gelato: A quaint space featuring daring flavors and old classics.

Shopping

There are plenty of shops in the area. From shoes to jewelry and clothing to novelty gifts, 9th and 9th has something for everybody, whether you need to brighten up your wardrobe or buy something nice for your grandma’s birthday.

  • Hobnob: Find vintage home decor here.
  • Hip and Humble: A locally owned boutique featuring fashion and home decor.
  • Zuriick: This place sells fashion forward and sturdy boots and other types of men’s apparel.
  • Posh Paws Small Pet Boutique: Pamper your pet at this animal lover’s paradise.
  • Cahoots Cards & Gifts: This small shop is the perfect place to buy that last minute gift.
  • Emiliejayne: This antique store is off the main intersection, but it’s well worth the extra two block walk.
  • Smiths: A grocery store within a five minute walk from the front steps. Yes please!
  • Trolley Square: Though technically not a part of the neighborhood, Trolley Square is just across the street. The small shopping mall contains Whole Foods, American Apparel, Desert Edge Brewery, other small retail shops.
